Through some progress has been made between Bumra's authorities and several minority ethnic groups, Kachin state continues to experience armed conflicts.  The Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) Joint-Secretary, La Nan told The Irrawaddy,  “Even during talks between the KIO and the government delegation led by U Aung Thaung, government troops launched offensives on two of our bases.”
